Position Overview:

The Project Manager owns the delivery of customer orders for AltaStream's packaged generator systems, from purchase order through engineering, procurement, shop build, factory acceptance testing (FAT), shipping, and site commissioning. You are the customer's main point of contact and the person who keeps engineering, production, supply chain, and service lined up against the delivery schedule. You will lead a small project team of 2–3 direct reports. Projects are mainly for data centre, industrial, and oil & gas clients in Canada and the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, support, and give day-to-day direction to a project team of 2–3 direct reports, including workload planning, coaching, and performance reviews.
Manage several concurrent customer projects from kick-off to close-out, delivering on scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
Lead the hand-off from sales and the project kick-off; confirm scope, specifications, deliverables, and milestones with the customer.
Build and maintain project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and change logs; report status to the CEO and to customers.
Coordinate engineering deliverables and customer submittals (general arrangement drawings, single-line diagrams, controls documentation) and manage review and approval cycles.
Work with supply chain to track long-lead equipment (engines, alternators, switchgear, enclosures, emissions systems) and resolve supplier delays.
Coordinate with production on build sequencing, shop capacity, and readiness for testing.
Plan and coordinate FAT and customer witness testing; track punch lists and deficiencies through to closure.
Coordinate shipping and logistics, including cross-border documentation for US deliveries.
Coordinate site delivery, installation support, and commissioning with the service team and the customer.
Manage change orders, milestone billing, and project cost tracking with finance.
Compile turnover packages: O&M manuals, test reports, as-built drawings, and warranty documentation.
Make sure projects follow AltaStream's health and safety, quality, and document control procedures.
Take part in recruiting, onboarding, and training for the project team.
Capture lessons learned and help improve AltaStream's project management processes and tools.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Degree or diploma in engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical discipline.
5+ years of project management experience in manufacturing, power generation, electrical equipment, or industrial projects.
Experience leading or supervising project staff (coordinators, project engineers, or similar).
Experience delivering engineered-to-order equipment through build, testing, shipping, and commissioning.
Working knowledge of generator sets, switchgear, controls, or electrical power systems, and the ability to read general arrangement drawings, single-line diagrams, and schematics.
Strong scheduling and cost-control skills using MS Project (or similar) and Excel.
Clear, professional written and verbal communication with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Ability to manage several projects and shifting priorities at once.
Valid driver's licence, and a valid passport with the ability to travel to the US occasionally.
Legal entitlement to work in Canada.

Assets:

PMP or CAPM certification.
P.Eng., EIT, or AScT designation.
Data centre or mission-critical power project experience.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and cross-border (Canada–US) shipping.
Exposure to emissions aftertreatment (SCR), microgrids, or battery energy storage (BESS).

Working Conditions:

Primarily office-based in Burnaby (on-site preferred), with regular time on the shop floor.
Hybrid – 1 day per week working from home.
Occasional travel to customer sites for kick-offs, testing, and commissioning (BC, Alberta, and the US).
Personal protective equipment is required in the shop and on customer sites.
Occasional work outside regular hours to meet customer deadlines.

Salary of CA$100,000 – CA$120,000 per year, based on experience.
